Welcome to AFD Facility Planning In 2002, my career path took an unexpected
turn, turning lemons into lemonade, I found a few opportunities to take on some consulting work and year after year thanks
to a strong network, the work continued to flow. At about the same time I also thought it would be fun to teach. I have a
passion for facility management education. This path lead to me an amazing journey of becoming an adjunct professor and an
insructional trainer. I believe my consulting work informs my teaching and my teaching informs my consulting work, to me it's
a perfect blend. Philosophy Facility Management has transformed how business reacts, responds and grows. A Facility
Practitioner's (FP) role within an organization has become critical to the productivity, efficiency, health and safety of
the people inside the buildings they manage. FPs are spending more and more time in the C-Suite helping
their organization’s meet their business goals.
Approach Facility consulting is about understanding how an organization functions and then crafting the criteria
and developing the processes necessary for growth, change and ultimately excellence. Our approach is focused
on providing high level specialty services that allows the FM to concentrate on their daily tasks yet still provide senior
management with data, reports and strategic planning information that will guide critical business decisions.
Decisions that lead to the success of your organization.
Good Business Sense Why should an organization hire a facility planning consultant? Planning always makes good fiscal
sense. An organization that is responsive and not reactive saves time, money and makes smarter decisions
at crucial moments. Knowing how much space your organization occupies or manages allows for smarter operational
decisions. Having space standards for offices and workstations cuts down on churn rates, allows for volume
discount purchasing and can decrease leasing and operational expenses by decreasing square footage requirements.
A facility planning consultant is able
to tend to the work you would do if you had the time. A good consultant knows the trends, has a wide range of experiences,
expertise, and network to draw from in order to provide your organization smart and efficient services.
